The Month of Giving: Occasions for Employee Appreciation, and Recognition

As November rolls in, we mark the end of daylight saving time, which brings shorter days and a noticeable chill in the air. While winter is not quite here, it’s certainly on the horizon. This month also celebrates National Gratitude Month, providing numerous opportunities to express appreciation to your team for their hard work, recognize their contributions, and show that you care about their well-being.

In line with National Gratitude Month, November is an ideal time to convey your thanks through CardSnacks digital greetings and e-cards. To assist you, we have compiled a comprehensive list of November “holidays” that honor various meaningful causes. However, remember that any day is a wonderful occasion to acknowledge the efforts of those who keep your company thriving—especially as we approach the well-known day of thanks: Thanksgiving.

Let’s take a look:

Nov. 1: Love Your Lawyer Day:

  • When you have legal trouble, who do you call and they (almost) always answer? Your lawyer! Lawyers are essential to conducting business. So whether you have a legal department or retain outside counsel, send your lawyer a little love on their special day.

Nov 6: National Stress Awareness Day:

  • Stress is inevitable, and not just on the job. Chronic stress is linked to many ailments, physical and mental, and awareness is the starting point for dealing with it. National Stress Day is set aside to help people identify stress in their life so that they can more effectively combat it. This is an excellent occasion to encourage the people on your team to take care of themselves, and to help their friends and family deal with the stressors in their lives.

Nov. 7: International Project Management Day:

  • Every project is unique, but one thing they all have in common is that success is defined by completing the work on time and on budget. Project managers are responsible for leading teams of professionals in getting projects done and setting deadlines that uphold business initiatives. These busy people may not even know they have a designated day, so don't miss the opportunity to tell them they do and that you know how important they are to your business.

Nov. 8: National STEAM Day:

  • Most people are familiar with STEM, but life is more than tech, science, and math. National STEAM Day is designated to inspire kids to explore and pursue their interests in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math, thus STEAM Day. Let your team know that art is at least as important to the good life as STEM.

Nov. 11: Veterans Day:

  • Only about 2 percent of the population has served in the military, but we all know how important their service is. Veterans Day is a federal holiday, so consider acknowledging the veterans on your team a day early if your office is closed, or send them a note of recognition for their commitment to their country.
