Creating a Culture of Recognition: February Employee Recognition Dates

Ahh, February… the month of love.

While the month may be known for its love-aching romantic-thrillers, candy hearts, and Valentine’s Day cards, it’s also one of the shortest months of the year.

A shorter month means less time to spend on your employee recognition program, right? Wrong!

There are still ways to show you “love” your co-workers, colleagues, or team members without getting sappy, or a notice from Human Resources. At CardSnacks, we are all about making it easier to start recognizing your employees to drive engagement and connection in your workplace.

Below are a few dates this upcoming month geared towards employee recognition:

February:

February 3 - National Patient Recognition Day / National Women’s Physician Day

  • Whether you work in a hospital, a clinic, or a women’s center, today serves as another example of the commitment the medical profession requires. While serving patients is part of their every day requirements, today is a day that can be used to dedicate more time, recognition, and reaffirm their commitment to their patients. After all, sharing a CardSnack might just put a smile on their face!
  • CardSnacks Suggestion: Check out some cards that are perfect for your patients: Sleep Rest RecoverI Am Thinking About You!, & You Are Never Alone

February 4 - National Thank A Mailman / Mail Carrier Day

  • Between the mountain of delivery boxes, and sorting the important documents and letters, our mail carriers deserve some meaningful R&R. While we may not be able to send them on a vacation, we can send them a card to their favorite restaurant or coffee shop for a midday pick-me-up during their shift.

February 6 - Pay a Compliment Day

  • Were you impressed by Becky’s fast turn-around on the monthly reports? What about Oscar’s willingness to work overtime to deliver the presentation? Whatever the circumstance, pay a compliment to your co-worker today - they might just appreciate the gesture to get them through the workday!

February 11 - International Day of Women & Science

  • For International Day of Women & Science, recognize the role women have had on the science industry! There is no better way to encourage life changing science than by sending someone words of encouragement.
  • CardSnacks Suggestion:Choose from our Thank You, and Encouragement categories

February 14 - Valentine’s Day

  • We know the workday doesn’t always involve roses and rainbows, and even if it is a day of love, use today to point out all of the great skills your team has, or what you love about your company. This exercise is great for peer to peer recognition and can be used to sort out what is and isn’t working in your company values.
  • CardSnacks Suggestion: Choose from extensive collection of Valentines Day Ecards

February 17 - National Caregivers Day

  • Caring for someone goes beyond taking out their trash or whipping up their favorite meal for dinner. There is a special bond between a caregiver and their patients. To recognize their time, dedication, and selflessness, send them a card to remind them how valuable they are. You can even include a signature from their patients to make it even more personable.
  • CardSnacks Suggestion: Choose from our Thank You and Thinking Of You cards

February 20 - National Leadership Day / President’s Day

  • Most offices are closed today to observe Presidents Day, but if your team is still in the office or working remotely, send a card to the managers in your company. Managers also need some encouragement that they are handling their teams the right way, too!
  • CardSnacks Suggestion: Our top picks include: Awesome Boss and Presidents Day

February 22 - Supermarket Employee Day

  • Winning “Employee of the Month” doesn’t cut it anymore. The produce, deli counter, and cashier staff are important carrots that ensure the ease and timeliness of time spent in the supermarket for customers. If you work in a supermarket, or have a favorite supermarket down your block, send them a card and thank them for the hard work they do! Someone has to make sure we don’t overbuy those snacks!
  • CardSnacks Suggestion: Check out some of our encouragement and thank you cards: You RockThanks A Ton, and Keep Going

February 23 - National Hospitality Workers Appreciation Day

  • The service industry can be rough, but recognition doesn't have to be. Workers in the hospitality industry are working tirelessly to ensure clients and customers are receiving the best services. Let’s celebrate them today by sending a CardSnacks - you might even be able to include an extra tip in the card!
  • CardSnacks Suggestion: Show your appreciation with cards like these: Just A Little Something & You Are The Best

While we may not be able to help you get a date for Valentine’s Day, we can help you and your team spread love this month across teams and departments. Whether it's a simple gesture by offering a compliment, or sending your manager a card from the whole team, there are plenty of days this month to make sure your company is feeling appreciated and valued.
